Session In the Presbyterian form of government, the church is governed by Elders. Elected by the congregation and ordained by the church, Elders serve as the primary leadership board - known as the Session - of the church. They are responsible for every aspect of the church, from providing spiritual leadership and vision to the care of our building and our finances.
Our Pastor The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 4 that God has given shepherds and teachers to His church in order “to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.”(Vv.11-12 To that end, our pastor shepherds and leads us by teaching and preaching the Bible, God’s Word. In addition, he is called to devote himself to making and growing disciples by regularly visiting, counseling, instructing and encouraging us from the Scriptures. His desire and aim is to devote himself to the pure doctrine of the Word and to set the believers an example "in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1Tim. 4:12) Diaconate The church also elects and ordains Deacons to serve our congregation and community. Deacons hold responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the facility and they oversee our ministry to the sick and shut-in via the Deaconesses.
Other Officers Our Pastor is the Moderator of Session and we have normal business leaders; Treasurer, Benevolence Treasurer, Financial Treasurer, and Trustees.
Standing Committees Ballston Center has several standing committees that work on specific areas of church ministry. Each committee has an Elder that provides guidance and reports for Sessional oversight. Our standing committees are Christian Education, Missions, Hospitality, Decorating, and Worship; all assist the Session in fulfilling the Mission of Ballston Center Church.
